About the FRUCT Association
The Framework for Research in Ubiquitous Communication Technologies (FRUCT) Association is an international, volunteer-based research community focused on the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The Association provides an open collaborative framework that unites researchers from academia and industry, fostering joint research, development, and innovation. FRUCT supports independent research teams that are free to define their research topics, provided that their work contributes to the development of ICT and related technologies. This bottom-up approach encourages innovation, interdisciplinarity, and responsiveness to emerging technological trends.
FRUCT Conferences
The FRUCT Association organizes two international research conferences per year, serving as a regular forum for research teams to meet, exchange ideas, and present ongoing work and research results. The thematic structure of each conference is dynamically shaped by the priorities, maturity, and progress of the active research teams. As a result, FRUCT conferences maintain a flexible yet coherent scope: some research topics are addressed continuously across consecutive conferences, while others are revisited periodically or discontinued based on community relevance and scientific progress. This adaptive model ensures that conference programs remain focused on the current and evolving needs of the research community, while maintaining intellectual coherence and scientific relevance. On average, FRUCT conference participants represent approximately 20 countries from all regions of the world, reflecting the international character of the community and the global relevance of the research topics addressed.
Peer Review and Quality Assurance
FRUCT conferences are open international events, welcoming paper submissions from both community members and external researchers within the defined priority topics of each conference. All submissions undergo a rigorous multi-stage peer review process, including:
- plagiarism detection,
- identification of inappropriate or undisclosed AI-generated content,
- and an in-depth scholarly evaluation by at least three independent expert reviewers.
Reviewers contributing to the FRUCT peer-review process are formally included in the Technical Program Committee (TPC) for the corresponding conference edition. Only submissions that meet high standards of originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and scientific contribution are accepted. This review process follows internationally accepted best practices in academic publishing. All accepted papers must be presented at the conference. FRUCT conferences place strong emphasis on structured open discussions following each presentation, encouraging critical feedback, knowledge exchange, and community building. These discussions also serve as a mechanism for identifying and engaging new contributors to the FRUCT research community.
Support for Early-Career Researchers and Knowledge Dissemination
FRUCT places particular emphasis on the engagement of students and early-career researchers. Student papers are actively encouraged and supported through mentoring, feedback, and inclusive conference practices. Conference programs also regularly feature invited lectures and keynote presentations by leading academic researchers and industry experts, contributing to knowledge transfer between research and practice.
Publications and Ethics
Accepted conference papers are published in the FRUCT Proceedings (ISSN 2305-7254). All publications follow the principles and categories defined in the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement and adhere to recognized standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The official publisher of the FRUCT Proceedings is FRUCT Oy, registered in Helsinki, Finland. FRUCT Oy is the copyright holder of all published materials. The FRUCT Proceedings are available in open access under the CC BY-ND license, ensuring broad dissemination and accessibility of published research.
