The Demo and Poster section of the 41st FRUCT conference will take place on 26 May 2027, in conjunction with the conference social event. All conference participants are warmly welcome to attend.
For Authors
Demo/Poster presentations are a special publication category at FRUCT conferences. Any registered conference participant may submit up to two Demo/Poster proposals, regardless of the number of other submissions they have made.
The submission deadline for Demo/Poster proposals is 7 May 2027.
Please follow the submission instructions below:
- Submit your proposal via the CMT system by the deadline. Please do not submit proposals by email.
- Complete the submission details in CMT. Enter the author information and the title of your Demo/Poster. Demo titles must begin with the prefix DEMO:, while Poster titles must begin with POSTER:. Provide a two- to three-paragraph description of your proposal in the Abstract field and select the three most relevant keywords. Under Topics, select only the DEMO/POSTER topic. Set the submission type to Poster. You do not need to upload your presentation at this stage; it can be uploaded later, as described below.
- Upload your Pecha Kucha presentation. Prepare a short promotional presentation for your Demo/Poster in the Pecha Kucha format described below. Upload your presentation in PDF format for an onsite presentation or MP4 format for an online presentation. You may upload or update your presentation until 7 May 2027. Submissions or updates received after this deadline will not be accepted.
In addition to presenting a Poster or Demo at the conference, authors may submit a Short Paper summarizing the main ideas and results presented in their Poster/Demo. Accepted Short Papers will be included in the second volume of the FRUCT proceedings. This volume is indexed by Zenodo, RSCI (VAK list), OpenAIRE, and Google Scholar. Please note that it is not included in IEEE Xplore and is not indexed by Scopus.
Note: If you wish to present a Demo or Poster in addition to a Full or Short Paper on the same topic, you must submit a separate Demo/Poster proposal through CMT, following the instructions above.
Organization of the Demo/Poster section
The Demo/Poster section at FRUCT conferences consists of two parts.
The first part is a promotional session in which participants introduce their Demo projects to the audience. Its purpose is to communicate the key idea of each project and generate enough interest to encourage attendees to visit the demonstration stands during the second part of the session.
The second part follows a traditional, stand-based format. Each team will be provided with space to set up its Demo and display a Poster. If you have any special requirements, please contact the organizing committee at info@fruct.org.
The promotional part of the Demo/Poster section follows the Pecha Kucha presentation format. This page explains the format and provides all the instructions you need to prepare your presentation.
Pecha Kucha Presentation Format and Preparation
Pecha Kucha is a presentation technique in which a speaker presents a fixed number of slides, each displayed for 20 seconds. Slides advance automatically during the presentation. The aim is to keep presentations concise, dynamic, and engaging by encouraging speakers to focus on their key messages rather than providing lengthy explanations.
The following instructions explain how to prepare a Pecha Kucha presentation for the Demo/Poster promotional session. A summary of the main requirements is also provided in the checklist below.
Your presentation must contain exactly six slides, each displayed for 20 seconds. Slides will advance automatically, making the total presentation time exactly two minutes. Traditional Pecha Kucha presentations typically contain 20 slides, but we use a shorter format to accommodate the large number of presentations at FRUCT conferences.
Introduce yourself and your presentation on the first slide. Include your name, institution, and presentation title.
Focus on attracting interest. The main purpose of your talk is to make the audience interested in your project. Clearly communicate its main ideas and explain what attendees will be able to see at your Demo stand. Make your presentation engaging and appealing, and avoid unnecessary technical details.
Present one main idea per slide. Do not overload slides with information. Remember that each slide is displayed for only 20 seconds. Use no more than two lines of text or one large image per slide. Do not use slide titles.
Do not duplicate slides. Repeating the same slide is not permitted. If you cannot explain a particular point within 20 seconds, simplify the content, split it across multiple slides, or omit less important details.
Do not include “Thank you” or “Q&A” slides. The Pecha Kucha session does not include a Q&A period. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your project afterward at the Poster/Demo stands.
Prepare your speech in advance. With only 20 seconds per slide, there is little room for improvisation. Plan what you will say for each slide and make sure your speech fits the allotted time.
Rehearse your presentation several times. Practice to avoid pauses while waiting for a slide to change or speaking too quickly to keep up with the slides. Aim for a consistent speaking pace throughout the presentation. Since the slides have equal display times, try to allocate a similar amount of speech to each one.
