Call for Papers

Authors are invited to SUBMIT original, unpublished contributions that are not currently under review by any other conference or journal.

The conference accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Full Papers - must present substantial and mature research results, 6-12 pages (submission deadline: 7 September 2026)
  • Short Papers - intended for preliminary results and innovative ideas, 2-6 pages (submission deadline: 7 September 2026)
  • Poster/Demo - for interactive presentation of prototypes, tools, or early-stage research, 200 words to 4 pages (submission deadline: 19 October 2026)

Please note that Full Paper submissions must be at least 6 full pages in length. The final page must contain substantive content of the paper; submissions where the last page includes only Acknowledgments and/or References will not be considered compliant. At least part of the main text (e.g., Conclusions) should appear on page 6. The submission type in the CMT system is automatically adjusted if the paper does not meet the formal criteria for a Full Paper. Therefore, authors whose submissions are close to the minimum length requirement are advised to verify their submission type in CMT a few days after the review process begins.

All submissions must follow the conference formatting guidelines and be written in English. Please download the paper templates for MS Word or LaTeX, or use the online LaTeX template available via the OverLeaf service. Please note the following major formatting requirements: The page size must be Letter (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm). If you are using MS Word, the margins must be set as follows: top - 1.9 cm, bottom - 1.6 cm, left - 1.57 cm, and right - 1.57 cm.

  • Conference dates: 4-6 November 2026
  • Conference location: a hybrid format, combining online participation with an in-person meetup in Helsinki (Finland)
  • Short Paper submission deadline: 7 September 2026
  • Full Paper Submission deadline: 7 September 2026
  • Notification of acceptance date: 2 October 2026
  • Camera-ready submission deadline: 9 October 2026
  • Authors registration deadline: 9 October 2026
  • Demos/Posters submission deadline: 19 October 2026

Due to the short publication cycle, FRUCT applies an early-bird review round instead of formal deadline extensions. For example, if you need more time for visa and travel arrangements, we recommend submitting your paper before the Early-bird submission deadline.

Authors submitting during the early-bird round:

  • Receive an acceptance decision and reviewer feedback approximately one month earlier
  • May submit a revised version of the paper, thereby improving their chances of acceptance

The Early bird submission deadline is 10 August 2026.

Authors who anticipate difficulties meeting the final submission deadline are encouraged to contact the organizers in advance. Extensions may be granted at the discretion of the organizing committee.

Proposals should be accompanied by a commitment to actively promote the topic. If a sufficient number of high-quality submissions is received, the proposer may be invited to chair the corresponding session(s).

Review Process

All submissions undergo a single-blind peer review process conducted by members of the Technical Committee. Each submission is evaluated based on:

  • Originality
  • Technical quality
  • Relevance to the conference scope
  • Clarity of presentation

The review process is organized as follows:

  • Full papers receive at least three reviews.
  • Short papers and poster/demo summaries receive at least two reviews.
  • The acceptance rate has remained below 40% for more than five years.
  • Authors of selected top papers may be invited to submit extended versions of their work to partner journals.

All accepted papers must be presented at the conference in order to be included in the final proceedings.

FRUCT conference is a recognized high-quality scientific event. It is rated in several national ranking systems, including: Finnish system (JUFO=1, JufoID: 72707), Norwegian system (NSD=1), Danish system (BFI=1, ID: 8782540).

Please note that some submissions meeting the length requirements for full papers may be recommended for publication in the Work-in-Progress (WiP) section of the proceedings. The WiP section includes papers that meet the basic quality criteria but do not receive sufficiently high evaluation scores for publication in IEEE Xplore. WiP papers are published in a separate volume of the proceedings. While this is a regular publication, it is indexed in a more limited range of abstracting and indexing services.

The Work-in-Progress track is intended to lower the entry barrier to the conference, particularly for students (e.g., submitting their first research papers) and for industry practitioners who may be less concerned with indexing and more interested in presenting and discussing early-stage results. It provides an opportunity to receive feedback from the community without the requirement of a fully mature, in-depth study at the time of submission.

Each individual may be listed as a co-author on a maximum of three accepted papers, unless explicit permission is granted by the organizing committee.

All conference papers and abstracts will be published Open Access in FRUCT proceeding (available for free download from FRUCT proceedings catalog). Accepted Full papers (excluding Works in Progress) will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. In addition, Full papers will be submitted for indexing to Scopus, WoS, ACM, DBLP, RSCI, Google Scholar, etc. Proceedings of FRUCT conference Full Papers are included into Scimago Journal Rank, AMiner, and CORE.

Selected papers, including Short Papers and WiP papers, may also be invited for extended publication in partner journals. Invitations are based on the quality of the presentation and the recommendation of the session chair. All partner journals are indexed in Scopus.

Important Notes

Please note that Scopus indexation cannot be guaranteed for Short Papers and other papers published in the Work-in-Progress section. If Scopus indexing is essential, authors should ensure that their submission is accepted as a Full Paper.

Authors of all accepted papers must:

  • Register for the conference,
  • Pay the registration fee by the author deadline, and
  • Present their paper at the conference.

Failure to meet these requirements will result in the paper being technically rejected.

Online participation

Online conference sessions consist of two parts:

  1. Pre-recorded video presentations Participants can watch presentations via the conference YouTube channel, with playlists available in the program for individual viewing. Alternatively, presentations will be broadcast during the conference MS Teams sessions.
  2. Live Questions and Answers sessions via MS Teams Interactive sessions will follow, providing opportunities for questions and discussion with the authors. Due to potential variations in internet connectivity, participants are encouraged to use audio-only mode during MS Teams sessions.

All authors are required to prepare and upload an 8-10 minute video presentation of their accepted paper(s) via the CMT system as a supplementary file, or send it to info@fruct.org by 9 October 2026. This approach helps avoid last-minute technical issues, ensures a smoother and more efficient program, and improves overall presentation quality.

Presentations should include slides synchronized with audio narration. Please use MP4 or WMV formats to ensure compatibility with the conference platform. Users of MS PowerPoint may follow the instructions

Background and motivation

The distinctive feature of modern IT and telecommunications industries is the dramatic shortening of the period during which technologies remain commercially viable. This is driven, on the one hand, by intense competition among key market players, which accelerates innovation cycles, and, on the other hand, by the increasing pace of technological advancement resulting from the growing investment of intellectual and human resources in research and development.

This trend poses a significant challenge for leading educational and research institutions worldwide. The FRUCT Association considers it essential to support effective collaboration between academia and industry. In particular, the conference aims to enhance the visibility of participating research teams and to facilitate direct interaction between academic researchers and industrial experts.
